The Elinchrom D-Lite series of all-in-one portable electronic flashes (monolites), has been available for a few years, but is still the state of the art when it comes to lightweight, inexpensive studio strobes. When this series of strobes came out they actually turned quite a few heads and a lot of photographers wondered whether it was necessary (or safe) to produce lights that were this light and fragile.

Time has of course proven that (with the proper care) these lights are quite capable and rugged enough for a heavier workload than we had first imagined. The reason that I am looking at them again is because we are now faced with an increasing number of restrictions on what and how much we are allowed to carry onto an airliner, both as carry on and checked in luggage. The D-Lite2 Two Monolite Kit above weighs only 25 lb (11.4 kg).

Each set contains two light sources with basic accessories to enable you to begin
your adventure into creativity.

A DVD Lighting Guide takes you through the first steps and forms a basis
for your own experiments with its many examples. When you feel the urge to
explore lighting further, additional effect accessories are available.
