I don’t think that Apple purposely held back anything in the Keynote, but they couldn’t have a done a better job of placing the final knife in the (last great) annual Apple fanfest, if they had tried.
During much of the 80’s and 90’s I religiously attended every MacWorld in San Francisco possible and even attended a few in Tokyo and Singapore. Those were the days. But when Apple started to dump their attendance at the shows (which in effect killed them all), I also started to lose interest and stopped going to the annual San Francisco bash. I was sad about it, but after all if Apple didn’t care any more, why should I?
