As you may have noticed I have not made any posts in about a week now, mainly because I am suffering from Apple and Nikon Rumor Fatigue. Since Britney Spears is now acting “normal”, Paris Hilton has a steady and very boring boyfriend, and Lindsay Lohan is avoiding the US (probably to avoid getting busted for complicity, in that bungled burglary at her own house), the paparazzi focus has apparently shifted to Apple tablets and now a Nikon/Leica? clone.
The NikonRumors.com website has just published a map of LA with a Nikon TV commercial site and requested photographers to please get some shots. “Anybody from that area – have you seen something? Can you drive by tomorrow (or now) and look for Ashton Kutcher with a small Nikon camera with a CMOS sensor in his hands? Any pictures, security videos? Anything?” Good grief, this is like something X-17 would do to catch Britney shaving her head again..
Anyway the Nikon Rumors site claims that they have information that the Leica X1 is actually manufactured (in part) by Nikon and that Nikon will come out with a clone that will have the Nikon D300 image sensor, but may also be a swivel camera, that looks similar to the ground-breaking Nikon Coolpix 995. I’m not sure exactly how this makes it a clone but you can read the rest of the article here.

Time to take a deep breath.
Now as to the Apple Rumors:
The Apple Tablet is stirring so much interest that multiple industries are being affected and in some cases even created from scratch just to deal with it (when and if it ever comes to market). The rumors are so wide spread and in some cases so absurd that all I can suggest is to punch “Apple Tablet” into Google News and see for yourself. Just be warned not to get hooked on it, there is a new Apple Tablet rumor every 30 seconds or so.
More immediate are the current Apple Macintosh product line updates, which have been projected to take place in a few days for several weeks now.
1. Redesigned and very thin 24-inch iMac
Sounds good but I think I will curb my enthusiasm until I see one ‘in the flesh’.
2. Redesigned, cheaper and we hope a more versatile Mac Mini
I have always thought that the Mac Mini was really intended to be a household or small office media hub and could well imagine the Apple TV device to just be a function of the Mac Mini (but what do I know?)
3. Redesigned and skinny MacBook starting at $699.
All I really care about at the moment is the (new and skinny) MacBook for $699 and I sure hope it does not come only in refrigerator white (or I will have to skin it immediately).
I don’t know who to credit for the Mac rumors, as they are all over the place, but AppleInsider.com and MacRumors.com are a good place to start.
