This is my new 13-inch MacBook Pro and a 10.6-inch Samsung N220 Netbook next to it, both set-up for digital workflow use, while traveling to remote locations. As you can see in the picture above, both computers are capable of running Adobe Photoshop Lightroom (Version 3). I have been spending a good part of the day reading various reports and opinions on the new Apple iPad and although I won’t be buying into the iPad system immediately, I am beginning to understand why it is a very important step in the evolution of personal computer devices.

The very real Axiotron Modbook, which is based on a (white plastic) Macbook and sells for (starting under) US$2,000. You can even supply your own (white or black) Macbook and have a custom conversion made. Mostly used by graphic artists, this tablet computer is a clever hybrid of Apple MacBook and Wacom graphic tablets parts and technology.

Some of you may have already read that Apple is so worried about the new consumer craze for netbooks, that they are going to lower the prices on their MacBook line of portables within a few weeks or maybe even days (I mean it is Spring isn’t it?).
Apple shareholders are of course concerned because if the insanely high profit margin of Apple products is lowered they might not receive the dividends they are counting on to pay for their next Beemer (or maybe they are all saving up for a Tesla Model S right now).

For quite some time now I have been waiting for Apple to revive the 12-inch Macintosh laptop, to use as a portable image storage device and on the road computer for website maintenance, photographic image workflow and for keeping up with my personal and business e-mail.
